Term 3 in Review

Term 3 certainly was full of activity and learning! Students fully engaged in many different learning experiences and tasks. In Science, students developed design and technology knowledge and skills by collaborating in teams to build their Minecraft Marina. In English, we studied the features of information reports and created an informative web page about Antarctica using Google sites. We also completed our novel study Mieko and the Fifth Treasure and celebrated this achievement with origami, rice cake making, mindfulness and calligraphy activities. In Maths, we continued Stage 2 Maths problem solving, investigated volume, area, patterns, fractions and chance; In Geography, students learned about Australia and its States and Territories, investigated some of our amazing natural features and landmarks, and developed mapping skills to locate and mark these on a map. In Health, students learned about nutrition and were keen detectives tasked with uncovering different types of ingredients found in packaged foods and facts about salt, sugar and fats contained in those products. We also spend a number of weeks exploring the idea that friendship is like a box of coloured pencils and developing our empathy learning muscle by looking at friendships and social situations from different perspectives. The Year 3 Camp was of course the big finale! Students had a wonderful time at the Crusaders Camp at Galston Gorge. It was a wonderful display of many learning dispositions in action. Students are to be congratulated for their kindness, empathy, compassion and grace to each other, Dee Why peers, teachers and camp staff. They actively engaged and participated in all activities and showed perseverance, collaboration, active listening, imagination and an ability to reflect positively on their experiences.
